Touch without Touching

This painting by Alex Grey is called "Universal Mind Lattice". Layered upon a dark background are overlapping three dimensional fields depicted in circular lines of light. There is a central column of these lines where they merge.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a virtually run six-day intensive class on Distance Healing with 150 other touch therapists taught by Suzanne Scurlock and Lori Chinitz. Suzanne is the founder of the Healing from the Core curriculum that I have been studying and using for the past 5 years.

All 150 of us have relied on touch as our primary sense for our work. Touch is amazing as you all know. But in a time of “no touch”, is there a way to provide the same (or perhaps even deeper) ability for healing and rejuvenation to occur? Yes, there is.

Have you ever noticed the difference in how one touch therapist connects with you versus the connection with another therapist? What makes you return to one therapist over the other? I believe that it is not the physical skills that truly differentiate one practitioner from another, but instead the practitioner’s therapeutic presence. Therapeutic presence is the practitioner’s ability to hold a healing, nonjudgmental space for the client to connect more deeply with their own inner wisdom. This is not the same thing as being friendly and interested. Therapeutic presence is a safe, heart-felt connection the therapist creates that allows for the clients to heal at a pace and in a way that they can integrate.

The Distance Healing Intensive taught me how to expand my therapeutic presence and CranioSacral therapy beyond my ability to touch. Distance Healing can facilitate change on many levels.

  • Physical/ Structural (ie, that aching pain in your back)
  • Emotional/ Psychological (ie, that sense of loss & grief as the world we knew has been taken away)
  • Energetic/ Psychic (ie, those unhealthy connection or beliefs that you have not been able to free yourself from)

I would love to help you get relief from the pain you are experiencing and to connect more deeply with your body in order to understand what your body is asking for. All I ask of you is to come with an open mind. See it as an experiment. What do you have to lose except perhaps those things that not longer support you to be the person you want to be? Watch a demo distance healing session from the class I took.

I am currently engaged in intentional practice with other students and practitioners of distance healing to improve my abilities and hope to offer this service in the future. Stay tuned for more details.
